I have been watching the flippant closure of just USAF bases over the years and have seen this writing on the walls for decades. I fully understand we didn't need all the bases we had in the 50's and 60's but the numbers closed went beyond feasible limits. The northwest US's air defense for example, is entirely dependent upon an Air National Guard unit in Oregon. This is simply ridiculous. I love your plan Sir but having spent 20 years on USAF flightlines in the US and Europe, our position is untenable in the event of a conflict and has been even before that mistake that occurred with leadership in 2008.
