PEDs can create problems, especially related to emotional instability and aggression. That said, these guys were overloaded, fell off the rigging, and drowned. Part of being a SEAL, as far as I understand, is being trusted to kit yourself out: they have custom rigs, custom weapons systems, and a lot of discretion. My guess is that these SEALs overloaded *themselves*—that is, they weren’t pressured by command to endanger themselves by adding gear; they did it in spite of the danger—and died because of it. I’m sure they were great men. The real story is about judgement and kit, not PEDs, which is just creating scandal.
